The Contention refers to the plays by William Shakespeare exploring the history of the monarchs of England. They are rarely performed and still more rarely performed as a series. As the scenic designer, this presented an opportunity to use the Throne as a symbolic structure across the whole of the productions, along with other evolving symbols.
